1. Who we are

Campkey ("we," "us," "our") is a campsite cancellation alert service operated by Ian Richardson, a sole proprietor based in Southern California. You can reach us at ianxrichardson@gmail.com.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We aim to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us — we'll explain in plain language and update this document.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to deliver alerts to you.

You give us directly:

We use your information for these purposes only:

4. SMS messaging — what you're consenting to

When you provide your phone number and subscribe, you explicitly consent to receive:

Message frequency depends on your selected parks and date ranges. A typical user receives 0–10 messages per week.

You can stop messages at any time by replying STOP to any text. To get help, reply HELP.

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. We do not charge for the SMS itself; your carrier may.

We send all SMS through Twilio, a third-party messaging provider that complies with US carrier 10DLC requirements.

5. Who we share your information with — the short version

We do not sell your phone number, email, or any personal data. Ever. To anyone.

We do not share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes.

The only parties that ever touch your data, and why:

That's the entire list. If we ever add another vendor, we'll update this document.

If we are legally compelled by a valid court order to disclose information, we will. We will notify you of such requests when legally permitted.

7. How we keep your data safe

8. Your rights — California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you live in California, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

To exercise any of these rights, email ianxrichardson@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will respond within 45 days as required by California law.

This service is not directed to anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, email us and we will delete it.

10. Cookies and tracking

We use minimal cookies — only those required for the website to function (e.g., remembering you're logged in). We do not use third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or behavioral tracking.

We may use a basic, privacy-respecting analytics tool (e.g., Plausible, Fathom, or similar) that does not use cookies and does not collect personal information. If we ever add a third-party tracker that does, we will update this document and require explicit consent.

  1. Update the "Last updated" date at the top.
  2. Email you about the change at least 14 days before it takes effect.
  3. Post a notice on the website.

Your continued use of the service after the change takes effect counts as acceptance of the updated policy.
